This notice explains how The Milestone, Ripponden ("we", "us") uses personal information collected through this website, in line with UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018). We keep it short and only collect what we need.

Contact and enquiry forms

When you send a message through a form on this website, it is delivered by our website host, Netlify (Netlify Forms), to hello@themilestoneripponden.co.uk. We use your name, contact details and message only to reply and deal with your enquiry. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in answering you, or taking steps at your request before a booking. We don't use it for marketing unless you have separately agreed, and we keep it only as long as needed to deal with your enquiry and any follow-up.

Website statistics

We use GoatCounter, a privacy-friendly analytics service, plus Netlify's server statistics, to count visits and see which pages and buttons are used, so we can improve the site. These tools don't use cookies or store anything on your device, don't identify you or follow you across other websites, and aren't used for advertising. We only see totals. Your IP address is processed briefly to produce these statistics and isn't stored by us. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests. To opt out, turn on "Do Not Track" (which we honour) or use a tracker blocker, or email us and we'll exclude you.

Cookies

This website doesn't set its own cookies. Embedded booking tools and links to other sites may set their own, as described in their policies.

Table and room bookings

Table bookings are made through OpenTable and room bookings through Eviivo. When you book, they collect your details and share them with us so we can manage your booking. They handle your information under their own privacy policies, which you can read on their websites.

Online payments for events

Some events, such as our festive brunch, can be paid for online. Payment is taken by Stripe on its own secure page, using Stripe Payment Links. Stripe collects your name, email address and card details and shares the order details (not your full card number) with us so we can manage your booking. Stripe handles your information under its own privacy policy. We keep payment records for 6 years for tax purposes. [TO CONFIRM: retention with the venue]

Who else sees your information

We don't sell your information. It is only shared with the service providers named above, who process it on our behalf or under their own policies, or where the law requires it.

Your rights

You have the right to ask for a copy of your information, and to ask us to correct, delete or restrict it, or to object to how we use it. Email hello@themilestoneripponden.co.uk and we'll respond within one month. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
